When designing the gastronenterology in Remscheid the song „bubble toes“ by the surfer, songwriter and singer Jack Johnson acted as an inspiration for reginadahmeningenhoven. Especially the following lines carried the quintessence for the dream worlds: “When you move like a jellyfish – rhythm don´t mean nothing – you go with the flow – you don´t stop”. The patient should immerse in other spheres when entering the practice: the interior design should spread a flowing, harmonious and subdued atmosphere, like some kind of underwater cosmos: mysterious but yet familiar. Considered unemotional, the 500-square meter surgery situated in a health centre, provides a reception area, treatment and operating rooms, an anaesthetic recovery room as well as secondary zones. However, these day a doctor ´s practice also is an advertising medium and therefore more than a well-functioning, sterile contact point for patients. The young doctor and client Dr. Jörgensen wants to offer his patients a pleasant atmosphere in his practice, and interior design can make a major contribution in this respect. In the opinion of Dr. Regina Dahmen-Ingenhoven “the healing power of architecture certainly depends on the extent to which architecture can awaken the need for “the feeling to be in good hands”. In order to realize the idea of their dream world, the architects have used light-blue epoxy resin for the floor, thus avoiding joints and directions. Walls painted in various shades of blue complete the underwater impression. Turquoise tiles in the bathroom, a large fish wall painting and furnishing with blue lamination ensure a uniform overall appearance. Sitting and waiting elements with integrated storage areas made of colour concept. A backrest, which is padded with foam and upholstered with silvery fabrics creates a horizontal structure.
