The project for Via Archimede in Milan conciliates the needs of a young couple with the spatial features of the home built in the late 1960s, that no longer responds to today’s ways of living. The apartment is located at the last floor of the building, at the corner, illuminated by large windows with wooden fixtures. Demolitions and constructions aims to create new visual and spatial connection, building up a hybrid space that merges together the entrance, the living room and the corridor which serves two bedrooms and a bathroom. The visitor is thus welcome in a room full of light, looking directly to the living room through the grid of a huge bookshelf. This element runs for all the length of the apartment, becoming the backbone of the project. It is designed in order to accommodate various functions including the owner’s studio, which is embedded into it. This furniture is designed and thought as an element that will be enriched over time, displaying the character of its inhabitants through fetishes and object that will be placed in the empty niches. The furniture is made of MDF wood, lacquered in two colors. The new parquet floor is in natural oak and covers the entire apartment, except the bathrooms, with octagonal tiles and square blue tiles.
